Equine Care Program

Group 1 Sports is passionate about horse racing, and also about the welfare of every thoroughbred before, during and after its racing career. We are part of the community and care deeply about the care of these beautiful animals. 

We have established an Equine Care Program and we set aside the equivalent of 0.25% of all Big Game prizes to fund the program.

Our Equine Care Program has 4 pillars:

• Group 1 Sports should be proactive in supporting the care for all racehorses, before during and after their racing career.

• A sustainable funding model should be established to provide that support.

• Rather than setting up a new program and creating inefficiency, Group 1 Sports should work with partners who have established equine welfare programs and are experts in the field.

• Group 1 Sports insists on the ability to audit the performance of those partners to ensure that funding is used efficiently and, in the manner, committed to by those partners.
